Royal Air Maroc Faces Criticism Over Soaring Israel-Morocco Flight Prices

Israeli tour operators denounce the increase in fares for direct flights between Morocco and Israel operated by the airlines Royal Air Maroc and El AL.
"The pricing of direct flights by the national company and its partner has risen from $450 (launch price) to $1,200, or even $1,400, for Tel Aviv-Casablanca and Tel Aviv-Marrakech," regrets Yehiel Hemo, one of Israel’s major tour operators, to l’Économiste. According to him, only regular direct flights at reasonable prices will allow him to make Morocco a destination of choice for Israeli tourists during the high season, but also during the summer and low seasons.
The "fare" of tickets displayed on the Royal Air Maroc (RAM) airline’s application confirms the increase in fares for direct flights between Morocco and Israel. "It is abnormal that a Tel Aviv-Casablanca is offered at $1,300, while a Tel Aviv-Miami (USA) is sold at $750 for a round trip, during the months of May, June and July 2022," deplores Yehiel Hemo. This "excessively expensive pricing grid" risks destroying "the efforts made by the Moroccan authorities to promote tourism," he fears.
