Royal Air Maroc faces the anger of passengers, it explains itself
A strong tension erupted on Sunday at the Mohammed V airport in Casablanca after the cancellation of a Royal Air Maroc flight to Istanbul. The airline justifies this decision by technical and weather constraints, rejecting accusations of negligence.
Scenes of confusion marked the Casablanca tarmac, widely relayed on social networks. Several passengers, frustrated by the unexpected postponement of their flight to Turkey, refused to leave the aircraft, improvising a sit-in on board to protest what they perceived as a lack of consideration. The images broadcast show blocked travelers, demanding explanations in the face of a situation deemed unacceptable.

Faced with the controversy, an internal source of Royal Air Maroc firmly defended the management of the incident, describing the cancellation as a "purely technical decision" under the authority of the captain. An alert on the dashboard requiring immediate revision, coupled with deteriorating weather conditions in Istanbul, forced the crew to postpone the flight until the next day as a precautionary measure, with passenger safety being the top priority.

The national airline said it was surprised by the scale of the protest, recalling that such emergency postponements are standard procedures in international civil aviation. The carrier insists that the decision-making power belongs exclusively to the captain when it comes to assessing risks, rejecting any interpretation other than basic prudence in the face of technical or climatic hazards.
To mitigate the inconveniences, the carrier assures that it has activated all the assistance protocols provided for by the regulations. The blocked passengers were accommodated in a hotel and provided with meals during the wait. Regarding transit passengers, the company has committed to ensuring their transportation to their final destinations, including booking alternative flights on other airlines if necessary.
