Royal Air Maroc Earns IATA Environmental and Wildlife Protection Certifications

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has recently awarded Royal Air Maroc the IEnvA (IATA Environmental Assessment) and IWT (IATA Illegal Wildlife Trade) certifications for its constant commitment to the environment and nature protection.
"This double IATA certification confirms Royal Air Maroc’s strong commitment to environmental responsibility and action. Obtaining the IEnvA and IWT labels consolidates the Company’s image and values in Morocco and internationally. It also allows Royal Air Maroc to further engage in a clear and proactive manner for environmental protection and the fight against the trafficking of protected species," explains the Chairman and CEO of Royal Air Maroc, Hamid Addou.
Royal Air Maroc’s obtaining of the IEnvA and IWT certifications "proves the company’s commitment and the work done to improve environmental management practices, to combat poaching and the transport of endangered species, and for sustainability in general. We are very pleased that RAM has partnered with IATA and trusts us to work with them on their continued advancement... We congratulate RAM for their efforts and leadership in the region," said Kamil Alawadhi, IATA’s Regional Vice President for Africa and the Middle East.
Royal Air Maroc thus becomes the first African airline and the seventh in the world to obtain this double certification for its action in the field of the environment. Within the oneworld alliance, of which it has been a member since 2020, five airlines have already obtained this double label. The IEnvA label aims to support the environmental action of airlines. The IWT certification, for its part, helps to strengthen the collaboration between airlines and airports, postal services, and authorities in order to effectively combat the trafficking of endangered wildlife.
