King Mohammed VI soon in France

The two governments are actively working on the drafting of a treaty of friendship, presented as "the first of its kind between France and a country in the Global South". A joint committee, chaired by former French Foreign Minister Hubert Védrine and former Moroccan Ambassador to France Chakib Benmoussa, is responsible for the preparation of this document, reports the newspaper Le Monde.

This visit follows the official invitation extended by President Emmanuel Macron during his trip to Morocco in October 2024. Initially planned for the end of 2025, the meeting has been postponed for unspecified reasons. To date, no official date has yet been confirmed for this major diplomatic event.

The royal stay is part of the continuation of the "Enhanced Strategic Partnership" signed in Rabat. This comprehensive agreement covers strategic areas such as health security, water resource management, artificial intelligence and energy transition. It also includes the preparation of major events, including the 2030 World Cup in Morocco.

The migration component also occupies a central place, with a focus on facilitating legal mobility and combating irregular migration. In addition, the two nations intend to coordinate their strategic efforts in Africa and the Euro-Mediterranean area in order to better respond to global crises and climate challenges.

To ensure the sustainability of these commitments, the two leaders will oversee the implementation of this partnership through regular meetings and a dedicated strategic committee. This mechanism must ensure that bilateral agreements translate into concrete and lasting actions for present and future generations.
