The next mayor of Rabat could come from the National Rally of Independents (RNI). Asmaa Rhlalou, former MP of the party, in the House of Representatives during the last term (2016-2021) has been chosen as a candidate for this highly coveted position.
It is a coalition bringing together the three best-ranked parties in the September 8 elections at the level of the Rabat region that have proposed Asmaa Rhlalou. The three formations have also agreed on the names of the future mayors of the other major cities in the region, specifies a source close to the file, who points out that the presidency of the communes of Témara, Kénitra and Khémisset would also be entrusted to RNI elected officials.
According to the negotiations between these parties, the communes of Salé and Sidi Kacem will be led by elected members of the Istiqlal party. Similarly, the president of the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra regional council would be Rachid El Abdi of the PAM.
