Rising Star Ilyes Bennane Shines for Morocco U15s After Belgium Switch

Footballer Yassin, 22, the elder brother of Ilyes Bennane has made a video to immortalize the exploits of the young Moroccan prodigy with the Belgium U15s and the Atlas Lions cubs.
After turning his back on the Belgian team for Morocco to the general surprise and being seen forced to leave Genk, Ilyes participated in the double match of the Moroccan U15s against Zambia at the Mohammed VI Academy in Rabat, during which he delivered fine performances. Unforgettable moments immortalized by his elder brother, Yassine who made a 12-minute video available on YouTube. "With everything that’s happening around him, I wanted to give our version, to explain things as they are," explains La Dernière Heure the player from the La Calamine club (D2 ACFF). "We’re talking about a 13-year-old boy who is called up to the U15 national team. Recently, we’ve heard a lot of things. What some have been able to say is a bit crazy... But well: we know what it’s really all about."
To read:
Yassin had accompanied his younger brother to Morocco. "I was injured and therefore unavailable to play... And at school, I was on vacation. So it was an opportunity to accompany him. To be honest, I didn’t really know what to expect," he says. During his call-up with Belgium, he had not had the opportunity to accompany him but here, he was able to do so and it was a very nice experience. The video shows Ilyes’ football talents. In the two matches, he made an impression. He scored a goal (penalty) in the first match and another goal in open play in the second.
"I enjoyed living this experience and making this video. The feedback is positive, both from Belgium and Morocco. If I have the opportunity to continue and if it pleases my little brother, I will make other videos," Yassin is delighted. The video already has more than 30,000 views. Ilyes’ elder brother is already thinking about making other videos: "I was thinking of a question-and-answer session with him: that could be interesting. And for the future, wherever he goes after Genk (who have done a lot for him), it could be good to follow him too."
