UN Reports Fresh Clashes Between Morocco and Polisario in Western Sahara

The UN confirms the new exchanges of fire between the Moroccan army and the Polisario in the Sahara.
New exchanges of fire occurred between Morocco and the Polisario independence movement in the night from Monday to Tuesday in the Sahara, the UN said on Tuesday. The UN organization did not provide any information on the casualties, reports AFP.
MINURSO "continues to receive information about gunfire during the night in various locations of the sand wall," said UN spokesman Stéphane Dujarric, specifying that last night, gunfire had been reported in areas north of the territory and to the south.
The UN continues "to urge the parties to take all necessary measures to de-escalate the tension." "The Secretary-General not only spoke with the King of Morocco" last Monday, "but he also spoke with several other stakeholders," said Mr. Dujarric.
