Renault to Shutter Historic Flins Plant, Pivot to Vehicle Recycling by 2025

The Renault plant in Flins is forced to close its doors due to a lack of competitiveness compared to brand new factories like Tangier or Onnaing for Toyota.
The competitiveness deficit forces Flins, Renault’s oldest still-operating plant, to close to make way for a car recycling site, reports RTL. In 20 years, the production in France of cars like the Dauphine, the 4L, the Twingo has been halved.
Faced with this drop in performance, the plant will end car production in 2024. Renault recycling will start from 2025. In total, 45,000 vehicles will be processed per year. The plant plans to handle up to 100,000 cars by 2030.
Only the production of SUVs or utility vehicles still allows France to be competitive.
