Renault and Dacia Dominate Morocco’s Growing Auto Market with 42.5% Share

In Morocco, more than 14,000 new vehicles, including nearly 2,000 light commercial vehicles, were sold in October, an increase of 24%. These vehicle importers are expected to surpass this feat during the last two months of the year.
The vehicle sales market experienced a slight increase of 4.6% this October compared to last year and performed better last month (-8.57%) than in September (-7.35%), according to figures from the Association of Vehicle Importers in Morocco (AIVAM).
In terms of sales volume, with a hint of recovery, the top three have not changed.
The Renault Maroc group (Dacia and Renault) remains the undisputed leader with 42.5% market share. It is followed by the Korean brand, Hyundai (1,045 sales and 9,200 in 2019). In total, this trio accounts for a 49.45% market share.
In 4th place is Peugeot with 1,060 vehicles and more than 9,000 units since 2019. Following it is the German brand Volkswagen on a downward trend, despite its performance last October (856 sales).
In the second half of the ranking is the Citroën brand (more than 650 vehicles in October and nearly 6,700 over the last 10 months of the year), followed by Fiat in 7th place (nearly 600 vehicles and more than 4.6% market share) and Ford in 8th place (463 sales last month and more than 5,200 over the 10 months of the year).
In the red, Toyota (9th) made an exploit this month (more than 720 sales and +28.37% vs. October 2018). It is followed in 10th place by Nissan (90 and 217 sales last month).
