Euro Surge Boosts European Travelers' Buying Power in Morocco and Beyond

Morocco is among the destinations where European vacationers can enjoy better purchasing power this summer. The reasons? The dollar has fallen against the currently strong euro. The dirham remains weak compared to the European currency.

The years of dollar dominance are over. Currently, the dollar is falling against the euro. The US currency has recorded a decline of just over 10% in 2025. And the situation is not about to improve, as the US Congress has endorsed the budgetary drift for the next decade on Independence Day. This fall in the dollar represents "a windfall for European vacationers, especially those considering a journey to countries where the dollar remains king - or at least very influential," assures Nicolas Sopel, Head of Macro Research & Chief Strategist Luxembourg at Quintet Private Bank in an op-ed published by Paperjam.

This is not all. According to Sopel, the second good news is that the euro "is strengthening and regaining its beautiful colors against the dollar, but also against certain local currencies." "Your purchasing power is therefore rising in several countries outside the euro zone," he further assured, citing the destinations where European vacationers can enjoy better purchasing power this summer. "Destinations like Morocco, Tunisia or Egypt see their currency remain weak compared to the euro, which can turn a standard stay into a high-end experience without your budget suffering," Sopel specified, adding that "the situation is identical in certain countries of Eastern or Central Europe, where the strong euro offsets certain price increases related to inflation."
