UN Refutes Polisario Claims of ’Open War’ in Western Sahara, Calls for Restraint

Contrary to the Polisario’s allegations of an "open war" in the Sahara, Stéphane Dujarric, the UN spokesperson, assures that the situation is normal. However, he calls on Morocco and the separatist movement to exercise restraint.
Responding to a question from a journalist from Al Quds Al Arabi, Stéphane Dujarric said that MINURSO continues to receive "unconfirmed reports of sporadic gunfire" through the defense system in the Sahara. "We have not received any information indicating that the situation in Guerguerat has changed in any way," added the UN spokesman.
The UN mission "continues to monitor the situation across the territory, including in El Guerguarat, to the extent possible given its capabilities," and does not stop "urging the parties to exercise restraint," he assured.
This response from the UN official sounds like a denial of the many Polisario communiqués on an "open war" in the Sahara and the "military exploits" of its militiamen against the Royal Armed Forces (FAR).
