Real Estate Scam in Tétouan Targets Moroccan Jewish Community, Mastermind Arrested
Moroccan Jews were victims of a real estate scam in Tétouan orchestrated by a vast network specialized in fraud and real estate dispossession. Its mastermind was arrested and then detained.
It all started with the discovery of suspicious financial transactions, bounced checks, the involvement of a famous notary in the area, already accused in numerous other cases of real estate dispossession and falsification of official documents as well as other suspicions of money laundering. Involved in another case, this notary is currently in prison. The investigations of the National Brigade of the Judicial Police (BNPJ) of Tétouan have borne fruit: the mastermind of a vast network specialized in fraud and real estate dispossession was arrested and then placed in custody in the local prison of Tétouan, reports the Arabic-language daily Al Akhbar.
Many complaints have been filed against the one nicknamed "Lekhnaïfri" in various cases of falsification of land titles belonging to Moroccan Jews and the use of forged documents in illegal real estate transactions. Suspected of being behind other scams involving colossal sums of money, he will be heard again by the BNPJ.
