Ramadan Scam Alert: Fraudsters Impersonate Royal Charity to Steal Bank Info

Some unscrupulous individuals are posing as employees of a charitable agency managed by the royal palace to defraud citizens to whom they ask for banking information, making them believe that they have been drawn to win a voucher during this Ramadan period.
According to the daily Assabah, "the scammers manage to obtain the victims’ phone numbers, their subscriptions and their bank statements, by highlighting a fictitious agency managed by the royal palace." They contact their victims to make them believe that they have been drawn "to win a voucher worth 20,000 dirhams" as part of an operation organized for the holy month of Ramadan.
"The scammer calls the victim to discuss the arrangements that will allow him to receive his gift," while specifying that "for reasons of security and transparency, the agency’s managers want the gift to be received by the winner in person," informs the same source. He then asks "for his bank statement, the number of his bank card, its expiration date and the code written on the back, in order to make the transfer of the amount won to the bank account."
