Ramadan Fasting Hours Vary Globally: Moroccans Face Longer Days Than Saudis

The month of Ramadan begins tomorrow, Wednesday, April 14 in Morocco. The duration of the fasting day will be longer for Moroccans than for Saudis who started the holy month this Tuesday, April 13.

Muslims abstain from drinking and eating from sunrise to sunset during the day throughout the holy month of Ramadan. But the duration of the fasting day varies from one country to another. According to data from the Islamic Finder website as of April 27, 2021, Muslims in Oslo (Norway) have the longest fasting day (18h10 min), while those in Melbourne (Australia) have the shortest day (12h08 min).

The fasting day of Muslims in Casablanca is longer (14h56 min) than that of Muslims in Mecca (14h11 min) and shorter than that of Muslims in Paris (15h41 min).

As in 2020, Muslims will experience the holy month under health restrictions related to the Covid-19 pandemic. These restrictions are more strict in some countries, but eased in others due to their epidemiological situation.
