Rabat Zoo Celebrates Birth of 150+ Animals, Including Endangered Species

The Rabat National Zoological Garden (JZN) recorded the birth of more than 150 animals, including endangered species, this year.
More than 150 animals, including endangered species, were born at the Rabat National Zoological Garden (JZN) since the beginning of 2019.
In total, there are 1 zebra, 9 addax, 8 Barbary sheep, 8 servals, 8 dorcas gazelles, 8 bald ibises, 5 scimitar-horned oryx, 1 dama gazelle and several other endangered species, according to a statement from the National Zoological Garden.
At birth, these species benefited from appropriate medical care and a period of veterinary supervision, allowing them to take their first steps in their new environment and to promote their adaptation and integration within their groups of congeners.
According to the JZN, these recorded births testify to the success of its collection plan aimed at the conservation of wildlife according to the standards in force in international zoos.
The action taken by the JZN in this regard is nothing other than the implementation of a conservation program for Moroccan species, in particular the Sahelo-Saharan antelopes or the bald ibises. Its objective is to establish viable populations of these animals, with a view to their reintroduction into their original environment.
