Rabat-Salé: The banks of the Bouregreg soon to be transformed

The two banks of the Bouregreg wadi will soon be transformed for the delight of the people of Rabat and Salé in general and tourists in particular. This project is part of the special development plan for the Bouregreg Valley launched by King Mohammed VI.

In Rabat, the development of the Bouregreg Valley continues. The Bouregreg Agency plans to develop the two banks of the Bouregreg Wadi. The work, which will take about 14 months, includes the construction of several floating docks, green areas, public parks, commercial kiosks, parking lots, and a bridge connecting the two banks. The completion of the work should take place before the organization by Morocco of the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN 2025), some of the important matches of which will take place in Rabat, the capital, between the months of July and August of next year, reports Al Alam. The overall cost of the project is estimated at 190 million dirhams.

What are the benefits of the project? The development of the two banks, which is part of the major project inaugurated by King Mohammed VI on January 7, 2006, covers a vast area of more than six thousand hectares, from the valley to the Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah dam, and has a symbolic value due to its strategic position and historical importance. It aims to establish important areas for tourism development, cultural animation and leisure, thus forming an urban development hub, but also to place Rabat in the position it deserves among the major cities of the Mediterranean basin and West Africa, while bringing a touch of vitality and distinction to the image of Rabat and Salé. A harmonious development adapted to the specificities of each area is also planned as part of this project.
