Rabat Residents Sue Parking Company Over Controversial Car Booting Practice

Residents of the Hassan neighborhood in Rabat have filed a complaint with the administrative court against the "Rabat Parking" company for the use of boots on cars.
The residents believe that this practice is contrary to court decisions and restricts the freedom of movement guaranteed by the Constitution. They have also filed a complaint with the Wali of Rabat and demanded the cancellation of the company’s decision and the municipal council’s decision.
Despite a final judgment prohibiting the use of boots, the company continues to use them. The mayor, Asmaa Rhlalou, refuses to put a discussion on the situation of the company, whose husband was the chairman of the board, on the agenda of the municipal council. A member of the Left Federation, quoted by Al Akhbar, said: "We hope that the public prosecutor’s investigation will go to the end and that those responsible for the disastrous situation of the company will be brought to justice."
The Wali of Rabat has already requested an audit of the financial transactions of "Rabat Parking" due to suspicions of corruption. The mayor has refused to disclose the results of the audit she had committed to carrying out on the company’s finances.
