Rabat Region to Shift Water and Utility Management from Redal to New Provider

The Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region is about to undergo a major change. As of April 1st, the management of water, electricity and sanitation will no longer be the responsibility of Redal. The Société Régionale Multiservices (SRM) is taking the stage.
This handover, reported by L’Observateur du Maroc et d’Afrique, is not just a change of name. It is the starting point for a deep overhaul of the management of public services in Morocco. A reform aimed at putting an end to disparities and optimizing the use of resources.
Rabat-Salé-Kénitra is a pioneer in this regard. The SRM, already at work in Casablanca-Settat, is deploying a model focused on the modernization of infrastructure and a better response to local needs.
But the movement does not stop there. The south of the country (Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra, Dakhla-Oued Eddahab and Guelmim-Oued Noun) will take over as of May 1, 2025. A year of waiting for these regions where the challenge of access to these services is crucial.
The schedule is tight. Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima, where Amendis is currently in charge, will switch on June 1, 2025. Fès-Meknès will follow in July. Finally, Béni Mellal-Khénifra and Drâa-Tafilalet will bring up the rear on August 1, 2025.
The objective of this regionalization? To give more power to the regions in the management of their vital infrastructures. Better manage resources, invest in a more targeted way, respond to the needs of a constantly growing population: these are the challenges to be met.
