Rabat Region to Invest 340 Million DH in New Universities and Roads

The Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region will be equipped with new faculties and its road network will be strengthened. This is in accordance with its Regional Development Program (PDR).
The realization of these new infrastructures, which will be completed in a few months and whose total cost is estimated at 340 million DH, was adopted during the March session of the regional council. The region will contribute 229 million DH, and the rest will be financed by partners.
The education and transport sectors are affected by the projects. Two multidisciplinary faculties will be built: one in Khémisset, and the other in Sidi Kacem, for a total amount of 190 million DH with the financial contribution of the Ministry of National Education and the provincial councils of the two cities. Saaïd Amzazi, Minister of National Education, assures that the necessary steps will be taken to effectively commission these faculties in September 2022. The opening of an annex in Khémisset is likely for the next academic year.
In order to open up certain rural areas of the region and facilitate the free movement of people and goods, the road sector will also see investments. To this end, road projects of 145 kilometers to be carried out in 21 communes of the region for 150 million DH are also planned.
Several other no less important projects were adopted during this same regional council. These include a partnership agreement on support for cooperatives, the social economy through e-commerce, for an amount of 6 million DH, with 4.5 million DH as the region’s contribution. In addition, the amendment of several partnership agreements relating to urban upgrading and the road axes of the prefecture of Skhirat-Témara, for a budget of 1.9 billion DH, as well as the construction of 13 municipal schools for an amount of 50 million DH, fully financed by the region, were adopted.
