Rabat Officials Deny Plans for Women-Only ’Pink Buses’ in Public Transport System

Two denials are better than one. After the formal denial of the Rabat city hall regarding the implementation of buses exclusively for women, it is the turn of the "Al Assima" group to deny the arrival of the "pink buses".
"There is no operator managing pink buses," said Abdellatif Soudou, vice-president of the commune of Salé and member of the Al Assima group, adding that the urban transport file falls exclusively under the competence of the inter-municipal cooperation establishment and not that of the commune of Rabat.
The group is talking about a recruitment operation targeting women that is currently underway, but unrelated to the implementation of 100% female buses that the media had already described as "pink buses".
Furthermore, "Al Assima" recalls that 350 new buses are in the process of being delivered and will be put into service as the new delegate Alsa-City Bus arrives, whose service will begin at the beginning of August. Among the 150 buses, 50 are Mercedes-Benz brand 16 meters long and will be ready by the end of June, 248 Scania Higer brand as of June and 124 as of July.
All these buses should be blue in color as we have already seen them on test between Rabat and Temara.
