Rabat Notary Faces Fraud Charges in Multi-Million Dirham Land Sale Case

A notary based in Rabat is being prosecuted in court for breach of trust, fraud and validation of the deed of sale of a plot of land without declaring a sum of nine million dirhams.
It all started with a complaint filed with the justice system by the heirs of a deceased person (his widow, his sons, his sister and his mother). They accuse a notary of having sold a plot of land with an area of 15,000 m² located in Sala Al Ajdida, without declaring the actual amount of this transaction: 9 million dirhams, reports Assabah. The deceased’s brothers had ceded the said land, by virtue of a power of attorney drawn up by Adouls. However, the deceased had only received two checks delivered by the notary worth 2.73 million dirhams instead of 4.93 million dirhams.
Faced with this situation, the heirs tried an amicable settlement which failed. The result? They decided to take the notary to court. She is now being prosecuted for breach of trust and fraud.
