Rabat’s Massive New Swimming Pool Draws 9,000 Visitors on Opening Weekend

On Sunday, July 7, 2019, more than 9,000 people rushed to the large swimming pool in Rabat. The site was a great success but also experienced some glitches for its first Sunday of opening.
With an entry price set at 10 dirhams, one of the largest swimming pools in Africa saw the arrival of several thousand people for its first weekend. This number of visitors required the deployment of significant human and logistical organization.
With an area of 17,000 m2, the large swimming pool in Rabat required the implementation of substantial human resources to be able to cope with the high demand. More than 60 security guards, 140 swimming instructors and 50 cleaners were requisitioned, in addition to police, firefighters and Auxiliary Forces agents.
According to vacationers on site, the very low entry price is the reason for this rush of visitors. Several people interviewed would have even wished that the price be revised upwards to limit the number of entries.
