Rabat Bans Visible Satellite Dishes and Air Conditioners on Building Facades

The governor of the prefecture of Rabat, Mohamed El Yaacoubi, is said to have taken a radical decision regarding the installation of satellite dishes and air conditioners on the facades of buildings in the Moroccan capital.
Henceforth, these devices will only be tolerated on the roofs of buildings, provided they are not visible.
This measure, which has caused a stir, aims to preserve the urban aesthetics of Rabat, as the city is expected to receive many visitors for the Africa Cup of Nations and the World Cup. The authorities indeed want to avoid that the facades of the buildings are disfigured by a multitude of satellite dishes and air conditioners, often installed in an anarchic way.
But aesthetics is not the only concern of the authorities. The safety of citizens is also at stake. Indeed, the fall of this equipment, especially during severe weather, represents a real danger for passers-by.
This decision has been welcomed on social networks, where people have been complaining for a long time about the proliferation of satellite dishes and air conditioners on the facades of buildings in Rabat and in the majority of Moroccan cities.
