Qatar Charity's Extensive Funding of Islamic Projects Across Europe Revealed

In an investigation entitled "Qatar, war of influence on Islam in Europe", journalists Christian Chesnot and Georges Malbrunot show the influence of the emirate on Islam in France and Europe. At the helm, Qatar Charity, an NGO they present as very close to the government.

It all started with the discovery of a USB key. "Yes, a key that I found in my mail in 2016. It took us months to translate and examine all the data it contained," Georges Malbrunot, co-director of the television documentary, said in an interview with Lamontagne.fr.

After meticulous work, his colleague Christian Chesnot and he retained the most interesting. These are the proofs of hundreds of bank transfers made by Qatar Charity to finance 140 projects of mosques, Islamic centers or schools all over Europe.

"This represents about 100 million euros over a decade, including about 30 million euros in France alone," explained Georges Malbrunot.

According to him, the money is used to feed the structures of the Muslim Brotherhood movement, proponents of a radical Islam. "Through these fundings, Qatar is buying influence. It is establishing itself as an operator of European Islam alongside other more traditional countries, such as Algeria, Morocco or Turkey," he said.

Furthermore, the journalist nuanced that the documentary is not an "anti-Qatari pamphlet". "We are not at all on a crusade against Qatar. In the film, we also gave the floor five times to the leaders of the emirate. Our work is flawless because it is supported by undisputable facts and evidence, and because it is contextualized," the senior reporter at Le Figaro clarified.

After Switzerland and Belgium, the investigation was broadcast on Arte on Tuesday, September 24.
