Putin Appoints New Russian Ambassador to Morocco Amid Diplomatic Reshuffle

Russia has a new ambassador to Morocco appointed on Friday, May 27 by its President Vladimir Putin.
Vladimir Baybakov. This is the name of Russia’s new ambassador to Morocco. He replaces Valerian Shuvaev who has held this position for many years, reports Russia Today.
Vladimir Baybakov was Russia’s ambassador to Mauritania.
The now former Russian ambassador to Morocco will be replaced by Igor Belyaev, who held the position in Algiers. The latter was dismissed from his duties the day after an interview he gave to an Algerian media outlet to express "an undiplomatic position" on the Sahara issue. The dismissal of Igor Belyaev can be seen as a signal that Moscow is sending to Algeria on this issue that has divided Morocco and Algeria for many years.
