PSG Star Hakimi Faces Potential Rape Trial Amid Shocking Allegations

The Nanterre public prosecutor’s office requested in August a trial for rape against the Moroccan defender and vice-captain of Paris Saint-Germain, Achraf Hakimi. The elements that motivate its request are recorded in a final requisition, which the newspaper Le Monde has had access to.
Achraf Hakimi is accused of having raped a 24-year-old woman at his home in Boulogne-Billancourt (Hauts-de-Seine), on the night of February 24 to 25, 2023. The alleged victim, recently separated, arrived at 1:17 a.m. in an Uber in front of the Moroccan international’s home who, according to her account, has been courting her for a month on Instagram. The resident of Val-de-Marne was exchanging messages on WhatsApp with a friend to whom she was recounting the scene in real time. Selected excerpts: "He grabbed me... The mouth... I’m going to leave", at 1:27 a.m. "It’s dead... He’s a rapist... I said I’m not like that", at 1:31 a.m. "It’s very serious", at 1:50 a.m. Then at 2:19 a.m.: "By my mother’s life, he raped me. It’s simple... But the real rape... He fingered me... By force... He’s a madman." The young woman left the Paris defender’s home ten minutes later and waited outside on a bench for her friend who came to pick her up by car.
The alleged victim went to the Nogent-sur-Marne (Val-de-Marne) police station on the evening of February 25 to file a complaint, out of "fear of repercussions" on her life, she said. The Nanterre public prosecutor’s office nevertheless decided to open an investigation. After two and a half years of investigations, the public prosecutor’s office issued its final requisition on August 1st. Based on the version it considers credible from the alleged victim who says she suffered digital penetration after a consensual kiss, it has requested the indictment of Achraf Hakimi before the criminal court. The investigating judge in charge of this case will decide whether or not to open a trial against the Moroccan defender who won the Champions League with PSG in May.
During the investigations, Achraf Hakimi denied the facts, specifying that he had exchanged no more than four kisses with the young woman and respected her refusal of a sexual relationship. The Atlas Lion stated that the alleged victim had "clearly told him that nothing more would happen that evening." "Everything is false [...]. I have never raped anyone. [...] I think I fell into a trap, to use me, like blackmail, to extort money from me," insisted the Paris right-back. "The analysis of the messages [...] shows an obvious and sudden change in the victim’s state of mind, compatible with the occurrence of the facts she denounces," notes the public prosecutor, Hervé Lollic, who sticks to the messages sent by the alleged victim to her friend at 3:45 a.m.: "I’m too stupid... I was too naive wesh... It’s nonsense... Never again", "He really raped me lol ah no... Eh I’m traumatized... But it’s very serious enft".
The public prosecutor’s office also notes contradictions in Hakimi’s statements. The Moroccan defender had stated that he had accompanied the young woman to her doorstep and made sure she had gotten into her friend’s car to pick her up. But the surveillance footage shows that she waited alone outside for thirteen minutes before her friend arrived. Another contradiction raised by the public prosecutor’s office lies in the statements of Kylian Mbappé, Hakimi’s friend and former teammate, who in his April 14, 2023 hearing as a witness, said that the Moroccan had assured him "that at no time did he feel a refusal from this young woman." Hakimi is a "respectful" friend with women, who "does not cross the line not to be crossed," the former captain of the French national team had supported. In the same vein, his ex-wife, Hiba Abouk, told the police that "the alleged facts did not at all correspond to the personality" and the sexual behavior of her ex-husband.
Will the investigating judge accept the public prosecutor’s request to open a trial for rape? In the absence of material evidence, the judge should not go in the same direction as the public prosecutor. The alleged victim refused twice, during her hearings on February 25 and March 1, to undergo a medical examination, preferring not to file a complaint. She also refused to have her phone seized for the purposes of the investigation. "I would agree to bring it for a day, I can stay as many hours as you wish, but I won’t leave it with you," she had proposed. For Hakimi’s lawyer, this is an "extortion attempt." As proof, she recalls the messages exchanged between the victim and her friend before her meeting with the footballer: "Try to catch the codes and everything... We’re going to go and strip him... We’re ghetto girls." The fact of filing a complaint rather than filing a complaint supports this thesis, according to Me Colin.
Since the outbreak of this case, Achraf Hakimi has the support of his club and remains focused on his career. The Moroccan defender was promoted to vice-captain of PSG in 2024 and the Parisian club extended his contract until 2029. The Atlas Lion had a great 2024-2025 season, winning the Champions League with his club and the Marc-Vivien Foé award for best African player. He is also one of the 30 players nominated for the Ballon d’Or, which will be awarded on Monday, September 22.
