PSG Star Achraf Hakimi Targeted in Viral Deepfake Scam on Facebook

Achraf Hakimi is involuntarily involved in a deepfake scam. A video of the PSG star, or rather his double, inviting young Moroccans to download an app to easily earn money is circulating on Facebook.
Deepfakes. This is the new phenomenon that is gaining momentum on social networks. Thanks to artificial intelligence (AI), videos are created with doubles of public figures. The image of the Moroccan right-back of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has been used for this purpose, reports H24Info, specifying that a video that has gone viral on Facebook shows Achraf Hakimi, or rather his double, inviting Moroccan youth to download an app to easily earn money.
In the video, Hakimi, who speaks Darija with difficulty, but spoke fluent Egyptian dialect, said he had pocketed more than 10 million euros thanks to this app, urging young people to do the same. The logo of the national channel 2M, as well as the presentation of the journalist and influencer, Ihssane Benalluch in the video as the big winner of the app, aroused suspicions, which ultimately allowed to discover that it was a deepfake.
While some were able to quickly detect the deception, others, on the other hand, were fooled by this deepfake. These videos generated by artificial intelligence are gaining momentum on the web and are damaging the reputation and privacy of personalities from all walks of life. Internet users must therefore be more vigilant.
