PSG’s Defensive Woes Continue as Hakimi, Marquinhos Remain Sidelined for Rennes Clash

PSG will have to cope with several absences in defense for their match against Rennes this Sunday afternoon at the Parc des Princes. Marquinhos, Nordi Mukiele and Achraf Hakimi, all three absent during the difficult victory obtained against Brest (2-1) last Saturday, were again absent from the training session on Wednesday morning at the Camp des Loges.
While the Brazilian is suffering from an insertion lesion of the abdominal muscles that should keep him off the field at least until the end of the week, the Moroccan right-back is still feeling muscular pain. Parisian supporters will therefore have to be patient before finding their Moroccan defender who had however been announced as returning to training this week, recalls Le Parisien.
Christophe Galtier’s staff had to call on the young Younes El Hannach, captain of the under-19 team, and Nehemiah Fernandez-Veliz to make up for these absences. The club’s prodigy son, Ethan Mbappé, was also present during the training session.
This situation further complicates PSG’s plans, who absolutely must win against Rennes to stay in the Ligue 1 title race. With just one point behind the Lille leader, the Parisians cannot afford any slip-ups as the end of the season approaches.
