EU Provides Morocco with Drones and Aid to Combat Illegal Migration

In order to help Morocco effectively combat illegal immigration, the European Union has offered the kingdom 15 drones and logistical and financial assistance. The equipment will allow the Kingdom to monitor its coasts in order to efficiently control migratory flows to Europe.
According to the weekly Al Ayyam, this donation comes despite the disagreements expressed by the Kingdom, refusing to become the policeman of Europe in the absence of "counterpart". And, in view of the pressure exerted by Spain on the European Union, the European Border and Coast Guard Agency, Frontex, has promised better support to Morocco.
A month ago, the European Union had already granted Morocco aid estimated at 101.7 million euros so that it would intensify its efforts and efforts to combat illegal immigration.
The weekly reports that the number of irregular crossings to Europe from Morocco has been reduced by 54% in 2019 and this, thanks to the combined efforts of the Royal Navy, the Auxiliary Forces, the Royal Gendarmerie and the border guards. This is the lowest crossing rate of the Strait of Gibraltar in 8 years.
