Monday 21 March 2022, by Sylvanus

The public prosecutor has requested the death penalty against eight individuals already convicted at first instance for their involvement in the shooting at the "La Crème" café in Marrakech.

In total, eight people risk the death penalty because the justice system accuses them of clearly knowing about the shooting that occurred on November 2, 2017 at the "La Crème" café in Marrakech, which cost the life of a young medical intern at the university hospital in the ochre city, shot by mistake, reports Al Ahdath Al Maghribia. The death penalty is thus requested against the two main accused, the Dutch R. M, 26 years old, and G. S, 31 years old. The latter had already been sentenced to death at first instance. They are considered the executors of the operation. Already sentenced to 15 years in prison for, among other things, criminal conspiracy and weapons possession, the owner of the café, M. E. is also on the list of people against whom the public prosecutor has requested the death penalty.

Five other people convicted at first instance to 20 years in prison each are also on this list. Among them, a 34-year-old man found guilty of complicity in murder, who also had knowledge of the operation; another 36-year-old person who, in addition to being an accomplice to murder, had also participated in the concealment of evidence related to the shooting; another 44-year-old accused who, in addition to the crimes for which the other persons are being prosecuted, is accused of drug trafficking and a 26-year-old man, a student at the time of the events at the Faculty of Law in Marrakech, who would have acted as an intermediary with the criminals for the rental of apartments and vehicles.
