EU Proposes Schengen Visa Fee Increase to 90 Euros for Adults

Moroccans, Schengen visa applicants, should spend more money to obtain them. The European Commission is considering raising visa fees to 90 euros (980 DH) for adults and 45 euros (490 DH) for children.
"In accordance with the Visa Code, the Commission has assessed the need to adjust the visa fee amount and concluded that it should be increased to 90 EUR for adults and 45 EUR for children. This calculation is based on the inflation rate in the Union and the evolution of the salaries of national civil servants over the past three years," explains the Commission, adding that opinions on this project are expected between February 2 and March 1, and "will be taken into account to finalize the initiative."
The majority of EU member states support this project to raise Schengen visa fees and have clearly expressed this during a meeting on the subject held last December, it is specified. In 2022, Morocco was in the top 10 of the countries where Schengen visa applications are most refused. With 119,346 rejected applications out of a total of 423,201 filed, the kingdom was ranked fourth, behind Algeria, India and Turkey.
