Private Schools in Morocco Deny Rumors of Tuition Fee Hikes

A likely increase in tuition fees could affect private schools in Morocco. The news, although unverified, is already causing anger and discontent among parents.
Will tuition fees see an increase? In a statement to SNRTnews, Abdelhadi Zouiten, Vice-President of the Private Education League in Morocco, categorically denied this rumor. "The increase in tuition fees has not been addressed so far. Private schools have no intention of raising prices."
He denounces the information published on social networks, which, according to him, risks creating discord. "The Private Education League is against the issue of raising school fees, and we do not agree with what is circulating. From a practical and realistic point of view, we consider that the school is a civic institution that must take into account the social and economic conditions of the country. The school must also take into account several considerations, including the purchasing power of citizens, consequently, it should not add new burdens to Moroccan families," he specified.
He took the opportunity to call on all educational institutions to "take into account the financial and social situation of families and to ensure normal schooling for students." For the official, there are other more pressing issues than raising tuition fees. "We are talking about the effects of the drought, as well as the political situation in the world, which is characterized by war, and its effects on the country’s economic situation," he stressed.
