Polisario Front Condemns Gambia’s New Consulate in Western Sahara, Escalating Tensions with Morocco

The "Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR)" condemns the opening of a Gambian consular representation in Dakhla. It describes this decision as a "flagrant aggression".
"The Republic of Gambia opened, on Wednesday, what it called a ’consulate’ in the occupied city of Dakhla, in direct relation to the illegal Moroccan occupation of parts of the Sahrawi Republic," the Sahrawi Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
"The SADR considers this act committed by Gambia as a flagrant aggression on its territory, support for the Moroccan occupation and a blatant violation of the constitutional law of the African Union and its resolutions of international legitimacy that do not recognize any Moroccan sovereignty over Western Sahara," the same source said.
Furthermore, the SADR "brings to the government of this country, with the Moroccan occupier, the consequences that will result" from this decision. It intends to adopt "the appropriate position and the necessary decisions to defend its sovereignty in accordance with the constitutive law of the African Union and international law".
