Police Raid Marrakech Sofitel Hotel, Arrest 70 at Illegal New Year’s Eve Party

The curfew imposed on New Year’s Eve did not prevent the organization of parties. This is particularly the case at the Sofitel Marrakech where 70 people were gathered in the hotel’s nightclub.
The management of the prestigious hotel establishment did not heed the closure order issued by the city authorities and continued to welcome customers in defiance of the state of health emergency, reports Alyaoum24.
A raid, carried out around 11 p.m. by a BNPJ unit in coordination with the DGST services, made it possible to arrest 70 people, including the manager of the "Sao" nightclub and the director of the Sofitel. Presented in immediate appearance, the accused were released on bail.
The media adds that the intervention of the police prefect took place, following information communicated by the department of public spaces, under the General Intelligence. The DGST service had allowed the local authorities to note several infractions related to the non-respect of closing hours. A tourist complex on the Ourika road, and 2 restaurants in the city center had thus had their alcohol operating license revoked.
