Police Intercept Overloaded Van Bound for Morocco in Pre-Holiday Traffic Check

During a road check operation the day before the extended Assumption weekend, police officers intercepted a van transporting a substantial load bound for Morocco on the N10 in Coignières.

This road check operation lasted 45 minutes. In total, 55 vehicles were checked, including a van towing a trailer bound for Morocco. The vehicle was transporting an impressive load, luggage, reports Le Parisien. After the check, the carrier resumes his journey. "Everything we can check is in order," except for the weight of the vehicle, a police officer says. "I didn’t weigh my vehicle," the driver sighs.

The operation was carried out following the publication by Bison futé of traffic forecasts for the extended August 15 weekend. The institute, which classifies a very large part of France in "red", warned that traffic will be "very difficult" on Saturday on all the main roads, in both directions. According to Bison futé, traffic jams are expected all weekend in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and on the Mediterranean arc, particularly on the A7, A8 and A9 motorways. It therefore advised avoiding the A7 between Orange and Marseille from 9am to 7pm and the A9 between Orange and Narbonne from 7am to 5pm.
