Police Inspector’s Appeal in ’Hamza Mon BB’ Corruption Case Set for Monday

The appeal trial of the police inspector, sentenced in January to 10 months in prison and a fine of 2,000 dirhams, will take place next Monday at the Court of Appeal of Marrakech. The officer was prosecuted for corruption, disclosure of professional secrecy and invasion of people’s privacy.
Aged 33, he is suspected of having been directly linked to one of the main instigators in the Hamza mon bb case, namely the Moroccan fashion designer Aicha Ayach, extradited from the United Arab Emirates in February.
The analysis of the stylist’s mobile phone had allowed the national brigade of the judicial police to find messages from a certain "Commissioner S", who was none other than the police inspector at the Wilaya of Casablanca.
The policeman had later been caught thanks to two audio recordings, where Aicha Ayach had urged him to provide her with information on the complaint of "Sultana", owner of a ready-to-wear store in Marrakech, herself a victim of the Hamza mon bb account.
