Pirates Hijack Moroccan Ship Off Equatorial Guinea Coast, Three Crew Missing

A Moroccan cargo and passenger ship, named Eloby 6, operating under the Guinean flag, was attacked last Saturday by pirates off the coast of Equatorial Guinea.
According to local media, the crew of the Eloby 6, owned by the Moroccan company SOMAGEC headquartered in Casablanca, had left the port of Tata the day before, heading for the island of Annobon, when it was surprised by its assailants, forcing it to change course towards Nigeria.
A manhunt was launched by the Guinean maritime and air forces, who finally managed to escort the boat to the capital, Malabo, but without three crew members.
After taking possession of the crew and passenger belongings, as well as the cargo on board, the pirates kidnapped 3 crew members, including 2 Moroccans, the ship’s captain and a seaman.
According to the Hespress website, the pirates are already in negotiations with the Moroccan company to negotiate their release.
