Passenger Chaos at Tanger Port: Single Ferry Causes Massive Delays to Spain

The port of Tanger Ville is experiencing unprecedented maritime congestion in recent days, due to a shortage of maritime transport vessels between Tanger Ville and Tarifa in Spain.
This situation, reports Rue20, is the result of the decommissioning of the second, larger ferry of the FRS company, due to a technical breakdown. As a result, the only operational vessel is overwhelmed by a record influx of passengers, including Moroccan families on vacation and tourists.
This situation has led to endless hours of waiting for passengers wishing to cross the Strait of Gibraltar. Dozens of people found themselves stuck on the quay, impatient and frustrated by the lack of alternatives. The situation is all the more worrying as school holidays have just begun in Morocco, significantly increasing the flow of travelers.
The FRS company, recently acquired by the Danish company DFDS, has not yet communicated on the date of the return to service of the ferry in breakdown. Travelers wishing to go to Spain or Moroccans living abroad wishing to come to Morocco can still head to Algeciras and Tanger Med.
