Paris Remembers Brahim Bouarram, Victim of Far-Right Violence 27 Years Ago

On May 1, 1995, just a few days before the second round of the presidential election, a young Moroccan, Brahim Bouarram, was thrown into the Seine by far-right militants.
The main accused, aged 19 at the time, had been sentenced three years later to 8 years in prison. Three other people who were in his company had, for their part, received a one-year prison sentence for "failure to assist a person in danger".
Despite the presence of the four individuals at the National Front parade, the far-right party had denied any responsibility.
Today, several tributes have been paid in Paris, notably by Lamia El Aaraje, spokesperson for the Socialist Party, on Twitter:
In memory of Brahim Bouarram, murdered by the far right on May 1, 1995.
In a 🇫🇷 where the far right gets 42%, we must remember: the fight against obscurantism remains, more than ever, essential.
