PAM Lawmaker Caught in Illegal Sand Mining Operation Near Taza

Trucks and public works equipment belonging to a PAM parliamentarian were intercepted by the quarry police in the middle of a sand pillaging operation in the vicinity of Taza. The justice system has been seized and the parliamentarian risks a lot.
On a routine inspection tour, agents from the quarry police under the Ministry of Equipment surprised these vehicles, owned by a deputy from the region, extracting sand in an unauthorized quarry in the commune of Mkansa, reports the daily Al Akhbar.
The agents drew up a report of the offense, which they transmitted to the public prosecutor’s office. After verification, it turned out that these trucks and other sand extraction equipment belong to the company of a PAM parliamentarian, who is also the president of the Taza city council. The illegally extracted sand was used in the public works sites opened in the region.
As soon as the report was received, the public prosecutor’s office ordered the seizure of the equipment. The seizure operation, carried out by the Royal Gendarmerie, made it possible to seize several construction machines. As for the parliamentarian, he will be prosecuted before the court of first instance for the offense of illegal operation of a sand quarry.
Furthermore, the court can also order the confiscation of the materials and equipment of the quarry operator, as well as the rehabilitation of the quarry site at his expense within a fixed time.
