Palace Manager in Marrakech Sentenced for $220,000 Embezzlement from Qatari Prince

Accused by her employer of breach of trust, forgery and destruction of business documents, the manager of the account of the palace of a Qatari prince was sentenced to 2 years in prison and a fine of 500 dirhams.
The decision handed down by the criminal chamber of the court of first instance of Marrakech grants the employer the sum of 100,000 dirhams in compensation for the damages suffered.
According to the daily Al Massae, embezzlement was found during an audit carried out on the account of the Qatari emir’s palace. The bank reconciliation statement revealed a gap of 2.2 million dirhams. A complaint was filed with the Attorney General.
The indictee had joined the management company in March 2017, continues the newspaper. She was in charge of accounting and managing the accounts of client companies.
