13 Killed, Over 1,800 Injured in Morocco’s Urban Traffic Accidents Last Week

The report of the 1357 accidents recorded in urban areas shows 13 deaths, 1828 injuries including 67 serious, during the week of November 4 to 10, according to a press release from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
The main causes of these traffic accidents are related to driver and pedestrian inattention, failure to yield, speeding, lane changes without using signals, failure to maintain a safe distance, loss of control, unauthorized lane changes, failure to stop, driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to comply with traffic lights, driving in the left lane, improper overtaking and driving in the wrong direction, the DGSN stressed in a press release.
The same source reports that with regard to control operations and the repression of offenses, the security services recorded 40,477 tickets and drew up 10,020 reports, submitted to the public prosecutor’s office, while 30,457 transactional fines were collected.
As for the sums collected, they reached 6,099,425 dirhams, reporting the impounding of 4,155 vehicles, the seizure of 5,673 documents and the withdrawal from circulation of 192 vehicles.
