Over 10,000 Moroccan-Born Children Granted Spanish Citizenship Under Immigration Law
Wednesday 1 January 2020, by
Children born to Moroccan parents residing in Spain have exceeded the threshold of 10,000, automatically benefiting from Spanish nationality, in accordance with the law on children of immigrants born in Spain.
During the previous six months, nearly 170,000 births of foreign parents took place on Spanish soil, including 10,000 Moroccans, 4,000 Romanians and 1,000 Chinese.
In 2018, more than 25,000 Moroccans obtained Spanish nationality, far outpacing Latin American nationals. Recently, new measures have been introduced by the Catalan courts, including the certificate of renunciation of Moroccan nationality.
