17 Killed, Over 2,000 Injured in Week-Long Surge of Urban Road Accidents in Morocco

During the week of November 9 to 15, seventeen people were killed and 2,038 others were injured, including 66 seriously, in 1,485 road accidents in urban areas.
The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) indicated that these accidents are mainly caused by driver inattention, drunk driving, lack of vehicle control, and non-compliance with the highway code.
Regarding the control and repression of traffic offenses, the security services recorded 43,392 tickets and drew up 11,580 reports submitted to the public prosecutor’s office, and 31,812 transactional fines were collected, according to the DGSN, which points out that it collected approximately 6,674,725 dirhams.
Similarly, 4,225 vehicles were impounded in the municipal pound, 7,171 documents were seized and 184 vehicles were taken off the road.
