Opel Expands Production to Morocco, Plans New Vehicle Model at Kénitra Plant

Opel would have chosen Morocco as the production site for a new vehicle model. This choice would be explained by the PSA policy aimed at deploying the German brand outside Europe.
According to the specialized press, the German brand is about to produce the Opel Rocks·e, a new vehicle model, in Morocco at the Kénitra plant. The small Citroën is also manufactured in this plant. The manufacturer also promises the opening of other markets in 2022, specifies the same source.
The French PSA group, the new owner of the German brand, had installed a new plant with a production capacity of 100,000 vehicles per year in Kénitra on June 20, 2019. The plant already produces the Peugeot 208 and the Citroën AMI.
Citroën and Opel aim to reach a young audience in particular. The Rocks·e will thus be sold to people aged 15 and over, with a very competitive price and the possibility of leasing, we are told. Sold for cash with an entry ticket of €6,900 (excluding bonus) or leased long-term, starting at €19.99/month, the electric Citroën Ami has indeed been a huge success. The manufacturer is certainly counting on repeating the feat.
