Online Class Leads to Rescue of Moroccan Woman from Domestic Violence in Italy

The cries of distress of a Moroccan mother, assaulted by her husband last Tuesday, finally alerted the teacher of her young daughter who was following an online course via videoconference.
The domestic scene left no doubt as to the violence suffered by the 40-year-old Moroccan woman, who lived under the same roof in Milan, with her 48-year-old Egyptian husband.
Saved by the carabinieri from the clutches of her partner, thanks to the teacher’s intervention, the Moroccan mother, who had already filed a complaint in February 2019 for abuse, came out of this episode with facial bruises.
In Morocco, as elsewhere in the world, domestic violence has reached alarming proportions during the confinement period. Several associations have called for the establishment of a stronger legal mechanism to guarantee the rights of women victims of violence or assault.
