US Offers Fulbright Scholarships for Moroccan English Teachers to Teach Arabic

Public school English teachers are invited to apply for a U.S. scholarship under the Fulbright program. A note has been sent by the Ministry of National Education to all of its regional academies.

Funded by the U.S. State Department, the Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) program offers secondary-level English teachers the opportunity to teach Arabic in the United States starting in August 2021.

The 9-month program, managed by the Moroccan-American Commission for Educational and Cultural Exchange (MACECE), will allow selected candidates to take postgraduate courses at American universities and give presentations in English on various aspects of life in Morocco.

To be eligible for the Fulbright scholarship, candidates must meet the following requirements:

• Hold at least a bachelor’s degree in English
• Be an English teacher in a secondary school, with no more than 7 years of experience
• Not have benefited from a similar U.S. program
• Have the necessary skills to take on both tasks

Application files, with a deadline of November 10, 2020, can be submitted through the hierarchy or directly, or by mail, to the headquarters of the central training unit at the following address:
Annexe Hassane, rue Saadiine, Rabat.

• Application form duly completed by the candidate and signed by the regional director, the hierarchical superior and the director of the Academy with a favorable opinion
• Copy of the national identity card
• Candidate’s CV in English (in 3 copies)
• Certified copy of the higher degree
• Last inspector’s note on the subject
• Candidate’s project on teaching the Arabic language and Moroccan culture, and his/her expectations during the stay in the United States (in English).
