Northern Morocco Tourist Surge Causes Hotel Shortages and Traffic Jams

Record influx in the cities of northern Morocco at the end of the summer season. Many Moroccan families are heading to the region to enjoy the last vacation days.
The cities of Tetouan, M’diq, Fnideq, Martil and Tangier have seen an influx of visitors in recent days who are storming their beaches to spend pleasant moments. According to the site Rue20, the hotels and tourist accommodation establishments in these cities are fully booked, forcing some tourists to spend the night in their cars or under the stars.
The influx of tourists in the North region also creates a quasi-daily traffic jam along the coastal strip adjacent to the city of Tetouan, from Martil through Cabo Negro, then M’Diq and Fnideq.
Some Moroccan families have chosen the second half of August to enjoy their summer vacation in the North. Meanwhile, others have finished their vacation and are returning to their cities of residence. This year, the summer season should end in mid-September.
