Northern Morocco Tourism Booms: 75% Hotel Occupancy Expected for Summer Season

The high season looks promising in northern Morocco, which is experiencing a strong influx of tourists in recent years. An average occupancy rate of 75% is expected for the months of July and August.
More and more Moroccans prefer to spend their summer holidays in the northern region. According to the Regional Tourism Council (CRT) of Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima, seaside destinations like Al Hoceima and Tamuda Bay are the most popular with travelers. The season looks good, especially during the months of July and August, where "an average tourist occupancy of around 75%, with variations ranging from 70% to 80%" is expected, says Rkia Alaoui, president of the CRT of Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima, interviewed by SNRT News.
The official specifies that "non-seaside places like Ouazzane and Chefchaouen also offer excursion opportunities for the Moroccan clientele", stressing that "these promising figures suggest significant growth compared to 2019, thus marking a recovery after two years of crisis in the tourism sector". For the CRT of the region, Moroccan tourists flock to the North due to the ease of coming there with family, but also the "investments made in recent years" to "diversify the tourist offer and the available activities".
"This constant evolution of the region arouses the amazement of tourists who return year after year, attracted by the perpetual change," explains Alaoui. But the high prices of accommodation, parking, restaurants and other tourist services could deter Moroccans from traveling to the North this year. "Despite this increase, it should be noted that the tourist offer in the region remains diversified and adapts to different customer segments... This diversity allows travelers to find options that match their budgets and preferences," reassures the president of the CRT of Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima.
