Northern Morocco’s Beaches Surge in Popularity, Driving Up Vacation Costs

The day after the celebration of Eid al-Adha, vacationers are more attracted to northern Morocco and, more precisely, to the city of Tetouan. This strong influx is justified by the cultural diversity and the beautiful beaches offered by this new festival destination, resulting in a sharp rise in prices.
The attractiveness of the city of Tetouan in the north of the kingdom now seduces vacationers, in this case, Moroccans wishing to take advantage of what remains of their vacation. According to sources cited by Le360.ma, the beaches of Martil, Cabo Negro, Mdiq, Fnideq and Oued Laou are stormed by these tourists who continue to flock, which has led to an unprecedented bidding war.
Living now close to the coasts requires a lot of means. The rental price has gone from 350 dirhams, before the Eid period, to 1,000. Faced with this unprecedented rise in prices, some families prefer to turn to the city of Tetouan, to pay a lower rent and commute daily to the beaches. Others, more seduced by the sea breeze, preferred to rent near the coasts, despite the rise in prices. However, they are forced to shorten their stay in order not to spend more than planned.
The other negative aspect of this influx is the massive traffic jams on the roads leading to the beaches, especially in the late afternoon, concludes the same source.
